Centennial "Laying of the Cornerstone" Celebration

In observance of the 100th anniversary of the laying of the cornerstone in the current church, a celebration was held on Sunday, October 5, 2009. It began with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in "The Catehdral of the Plains" followed by the blessing of the cornerstone on the northwest side of the church. After the blessing a free will offering Soup and Sandwich Luncheon was served in the Victoria Grade School Cafeteria. After all in attendance were served, "The Sisters of Hope", a group of ladies from Hope and Abilene, Kansas, gave a song and dance performance.

Approximately 265 to 300 people attended the luncheon, with more attending the Mass, at which the St. Fidelis Church Adult Choir lead the music.
