Centennial Ground Breaking Celebration

THANKGIVING DAY MEAL

A Thanksgiving Day meal was served as one of the first centennial events in honor of the November 1908 groundbreaking. The day began with a Thanksgiving Mass at 9:30 a.m. folowed by a DVD presentation of the history of the building of the Cathedral of the Plains. The DVD was produced by Victoria High School students in the Office Technology Class under instructors John Linn and Stuart Moeckel.

Last but not the least, a free Thanksgiving Day Meal with all the traditional food (baked turkey, bread dressing, rolls, vegetables, etc.) was served to approximately 559 people in the Victoria Grade School gymnasium from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The parish invited all parishioners along with their families, friends, and neighbors to join them in this celebration. The meal was free; however, a free will offering was thankfully accepted.
