Altar Society / Christian Mothers

This group meet 4 times a year in the north Sacristy on the 1st Monday of March, June, November and September (4th Monday). Anyone is welcome to attend.

The St. Fidelis Altar Society, active since 1887 and under the patronage of Our Mother of Sorrows, is a dedicated group of parishioners committed to serving both the parish and the wider community through faith, fellowship, and acts of charity. Members gather four times each year for meetings and Mass offered for the intentions of the society, held on the first Monday in March, June, and November, and on the fourth Monday in September.

 

The Altar Society encourages daily prayer for children, supports strong marriages and family life, and leads the parish Rosary on the first Sunday of each month. Members also provide a yearly Memorial Mass, pray the Rosary at parish wake services, and arrange for an individual Mass to be offered at the time of a member's death.

In addition to its spiritual mission, the Altar Society serves the parish in many practical ways. Members prepare and serve funeral dinners, care for vestments and altar server garments, and help provide needed items for the parish. Through annual dues of just $5 and various fundraising efforts, the society also offers financial support to local youth organizations, seminarians and clergy, faith formation programs, and selected diocesan ministries. Throughout the year, members enjoy potluck gatherings and fellowship while continuing a tradition of faithful service that has enriched the parish for well over a century.
